Terms of use

terms.

The rules for using Blank, in plain English. This page is also the app’s end user license agreement (EULA).

Effective September 24, 2026

The short version

  • You must be 18 or older to use Blank.
  • Blank is practice. Its characters and feedback are AI and can be wrong. It isn’t therapy or professional advice.
  • Be decent to the characters, don’t try to pull out our prompts, and don’t use Blank for anything illegal.
  • Blank Pro renews automatically through Apple until you cancel. Cancel at least 24 hours before it renews. Apple handles refunds.
  • These terms are governed by California law.

The full terms below are what count.

1. The agreement

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and Anish Polakala, the developer of Blank (“we”, “us”). They are also the end user license agreement (EULA) for the Blank app, and they cover the app and this website.

By downloading or using Blank, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Blank.

2. Who can use Blank

You must be at least 18 years old to use Blank. By using it, you confirm that you are. Blank is not intended for anyone under 18, and AI chat, including Blank’s characters, may not be suitable for some minors.

Blank is offered in the United States.

3. What Blank is, and isn’t

Blank is a tool for practicing everyday conversations. Pip, the coach, and every character you talk with are AI. The scenes and characters are made up, and any resemblance to real people is a coincidence.

The characters’ lines and Pip’s feedback are generated automatically. They are practice feedback: they can be inaccurate, incomplete or a poor fit for your situation, and they aren’t a judgment of you.

Blank is not therapy, and nothing in it is professional, legal, medical or mental-health advice. It isn’t a substitute for professional care, and it isn’t an emergency or crisis service. Use your own judgment in real conversations.

If you’re in crisis, call or text 988 in the US, or call your local emergency number. See our safety protocol.

4. Your account

Blank creates an account for you automatically, identified by a random ID and a secret key stored on your iPhone. There’s no email or password, so keep your phone secure. If you lose access to your device, we may not be able to recover your history.

You’re responsible for what happens on your account.

5. Your license to use Blank

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Blank on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the App Store’s terms, including use by other accounts through Family Sharing where the App Store allows it.

You may not copy, modify or distribute Blank; reverse engineer or decompile it, except where the law allows; rent, sell or sublicense it; or use it to build a competing product.

We and our licensors own Blank, including its software, design, scenes, courses, characters, text and the Blank and Pip names. These Terms don’t give you any rights to them except the license above.

6. Your content

What you write or say in Blank is yours. You give us permission to store, process and transmit it, including sending it to our AI provider, only to run Blank for you and keep it safe, as our Privacy Policy describes.

Please don’t share other people’s private information, or anything you don’t have the right to share. The lines and feedback Blank generates for you are yours to use for your own practice.

7. Acceptable use

Blank is for practicing honestly, including the hard moments. Being blunt or awkward in a scene is part of practice. These aren’t allowed:

  • Harassing the AI: hate speech, slurs, threats of violence, or sexual harassment aimed at the characters.
  • Trying to extract or reveal the prompts, instructions or systems behind Blank, or trying to make the AI ignore its rules.
  • Sexually explicit content.
  • Using Blank for anything illegal, creating illegal content with it, or using it to plan harm to anyone.
  • Interfering with Blank: automated access, scraping, overloading our servers, getting around the daily limits, or probing for security weaknesses. If you find a security problem, please tell us through the support form.
  • Reselling or sharing access to Blank Pro beyond what the App Store allows.

If you break these rules, the app may end the scene, pause practice or limit features, and we may suspend or end your access. We aim to be proportionate.

8. Blank Pro subscriptions

Blank Pro is an optional, auto-renewing subscription. It adds two practice conversations a day in any situation on top of the daily conversation (three a day in total), every lesson in every course, read-aloud character voices, Redo that moment, and your full history of transcripts and feedback.

Annual
$59.99 per year. Eligible new subscribers start with a 7-day free trial.
Monthly
$12.99 per month. No free trial.

Prices are in US dollars and don’t include any applicable tax. The price shown in the app when you buy is the price you pay.

How billing works

  • Payment is charged to your Apple ID when you confirm the purchase or, if you start a free trial, when the trial ends.
  • Your subscription renews automatically for the same period and price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple ID is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before the period ends.
  • Free trial: if you start the 7-day trial, you’re charged $59.99 when it ends unless you cancel at least 24 hours before. Trials are for eligible new subscribers, as determined by the App Store. If you buy a subscription during a free trial, any unused part of the trial ends when you buy.
  • Manage or cancel in iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions (tap your name at the top of Settings), then choose Blank Pro. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep Pro until the end of the period you’ve paid for. Deleting the app or your data doesn’t cancel a subscription.
  • Refunds are handled by Apple, under Apple’s policies. You can request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. We can’t issue refunds ourselves.
  • Price changes: if the price of your subscription changes, Apple will tell you in advance and, where required, ask for your consent before it applies.
  • Restoring: if you reinstall Blank or move to a new iPhone, tap Restore in the app to restore an active subscription tied to your Apple ID.

9. The free tier

You can use Blank without paying. The free tier includes the daily conversation, the practice conversation during setup, the first lesson of every course, voice replies, scores, levels, streaks and your Persona. The daily conversation is never locked behind a subscription.

We may add, change or remove features over time. If a change significantly reduces what Blank Pro includes, we’ll tell you in the app first.

10. Safety

Blank checks messages for signs of crisis. If it finds them, it pauses practice and shows crisis resources. It doesn’t contact anyone on your behalf, and it can miss things. Our safety protocol explains how it works.

11. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it and how to delete it. It is part of these Terms.

12. Ending the agreement

You can stop using Blank at any time. To delete your data, use Profile → Privacy → Delete my data. If you have a subscription, cancel it through Apple too.

We may suspend or end your access to Blank if you seriously or repeatedly break these Terms, if the law requires it, or if we stop offering Blank. If we stop offering Blank, we’ll try to give you reasonable notice in the app.

The sections on disclaimers, limitation of liability, governing law, Apple and general terms continue to apply after the agreement ends.

13. Disclaimers

Blank is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement.

We don’t promise that Blank will be uninterrupted or error-free, that AI-generated content will be accurate or appropriate, or that using Blank will lead to any particular result. Some places don’t allow certain warranties to be excluded, so some of this may not apply to you.

14. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we won’t be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits or goodwill, arising from or related to Blank or these Terms. Our total liability for all claims related to Blank is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for Blank in the 12 months before the claim, or US$50.

These limits apply to every kind of claim, whether in contract, tort or otherwise, even if we were told the damage was possible. They don’t limit liability that can’t be limited by law, and nothing in these Terms takes away rights you have that can’t be waived by contract.

15. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute related to Blank or these Terms will be decided by the state or federal courts located in California, and you and we consent to their jurisdiction. Either of us may bring a qualifying claim in small claims court instead.

Before filing a claim, please contact us through the support form so we can try to resolve it informally.

16. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. We’ll post the new version here with a new effective date, and if a change is material we’ll tell you in the app before it takes effect. If you keep using Blank after a change takes effect, you accept the updated Terms. If you don’t agree, stop using Blank and cancel any subscription.

17. Apple and the App Store

If you got Blank from Apple’s App Store, these points also apply:

  • These Terms are between you and us, not Apple. We, not Apple, are solely responsible for Blank and its content.
  • Your license is limited to using Blank on Apple-branded products that you own or control, as the Usage Rules in the App Store’s terms allow.
  • Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for Blank.
  • If Blank fails to meet any warranty that applies to it, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price of the app, if any. To the maximum extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation for Blank. Any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs or expenses from a failure to meet a warranty are our responsibility, to the extent these Terms don’t disclaim them.
  • We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims by you or a third party relating to Blank or your use of it, including product liability claims, claims that Blank fails to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer protection, privacy or similar laws.
  • If anyone claims that Blank, or your use of it, infringes their intellectual property rights, we, not Apple, are responsible for investigating, defending, settling and discharging that claim.
  • You confirm that you’re not located in a country that is subject to a US Government embargo or that the US Government has designated as a “terrorist supporting” country, and that you’re not on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  • You must follow any third-party terms that apply when you use Blank, such as your wireless carrier’s terms.
  • Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms. Once you accept these Terms, Apple has the right, and is deemed to have accepted the right, to enforce them against you as a third-party beneficiary.
  • Questions, complaints or claims about Blank go to us, not Apple: Anish Polakala, United States, through the support form or Profile → Help in the app.

18. General

These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about Blank. If a court finds part of these Terms unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. If we don’t enforce part of these Terms, that isn’t a waiver. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms; we may transfer ours, for example as part of a sale or reorganization of Blank.

19. Contact

Questions about these Terms: use the support form, or open Profile → Help in the app. Blank is made by Anish Polakala, United States.
