What Blank collects, why, who helps us run it, and how to delete it. In plain English.

Effective September 24, 2026

The short version

  • No email, phone number or password. Your account is a random ID created on your phone.
  • Your replies are sent to Anthropic to run each conversation and write Pip’s feedback. Anthropic doesn’t use them to train its models.
  • When you speak a reply, the audio never leaves your phone. Only the text is sent.
  • No ads, no tracking, no selling your data, no third-party analytics.
  • You can delete your history, or everything, in the app at any time.

The full policy below is what counts. Questions? Ask us.

1. Who we are

Blank is an iPhone app for practicing everyday conversations with AI. It’s made by Anish Polakala, an individual developer in the United States, who is responsible for your information. In this policy, “Blank”, “we” and “us” mean Anish Polakala.

This policy covers the Blank app and this website. It explains what we collect, why, who helps us process it, how long we keep it and how you can delete it.

2. What we collect and why

Blank doesn’t ask for your email address, phone number, password or name. The first time you open the app, it creates a random ID and a secret key on your phone. That’s your account.

This is everything the app collects, and what it’s for:

Your device ID
A random ID created on your phone. It tells our server which practice history is yours.
Onboarding answers and settings
The situations you want to practice, what usually happens for you, how confident you feel, and settings such as your practice time, feedback style and plain speech. Your situations decide which daily conversations you get. What usually happens for you picks your first conversation and shapes Pip’s coaching; Pip doesn’t repeat it back to you. How confident you feel is only shown back to you, so you can see it change.
Your first name, if you give one
Optional. It appears in your greeting, and characters who would know your name, like a coworker or a friend, may use it. Strangers don’t.
Your conversations and feedback
What you write (or say, as text) in each conversation, the character’s replies and Pip’s feedback. We use them to run the practice, check each message for safety, and show you your history.
What characters remember
A few short facts you shared in a conversation, like a city you moved from or a hobby, so the same character can bring one up when you meet again. Never anything about health, relationships, identity or money.
Your Persona
The habits Pip finds in your replies, and the one you pick to work on. We use them to show you the Persona tab and to lean your daily conversations and Pip’s coaching toward your focus.
Practice stats and streak
Counts such as how many conversations you’ve had, and your streak. We use them to show your progress.
Real conversations you log and lines you save
Optional. We keep them so you can see them in the app.
Reports and support messages
When you report a message or write to us, we keep what you send so we can review it and reply. If you give an email address, we use it only to answer you.
Purchase status from Apple
Whether you have Blank Pro, which plan, whether you’re in a free trial, and when it expires. We never receive your payment details.
Optional: help improve the coach
Off unless you turn it on in Profile → Privacy. If you do, we may use your practice transcripts, with your name removed, to test and improve the quality of feedback. You can turn it off at any time.
Usage events
Simple first-party records of what happens in the app, such as finishing a conversation, and crash reports (the error message and where in the app it happened) if something breaks. We use them to fix and improve Blank. They aren’t shared with anyone and are never used for ads.
Your time zone
So your daily text is scheduled for the right time in your day.
Server logs
Short technical records of requests to our server, which can include your IP address. We use them to keep Blank running and secure.

We don’t collect your contacts, photos, precise location, audio recordings, advertising identifier or payment details.

3. AI processing by Anthropic

The conversations in Blank run on AI from Anthropic, the company that makes Claude. To play the character in each conversation, write Pip’s feedback and coaching, and find the habits on your Persona, we send Anthropic:

  • your replies, as text
  • your first name, if you gave one, only when the character would know it
  • your onboarding quiz answers, such as what usually happens for you

We also send the scene, the conversation so far and a few notes from earlier practice (what a character remembers about you, your last Next move and the focus you picked), so replies and coaching fit where you are. Anthropic uses it to write the reply or the feedback and send it back to us. It is not used to train Anthropic’s models.

The app asks for your permission before anything is sent to Anthropic, on a screen that names Anthropic and what it receives. You can withdraw permission at any time in Profile → Privacy; practice with characters then pauses until you agree again.

Anthropic’s own handling of data is described in Anthropic’s privacy policy.

4. Hosting by Supabase

Your account, settings and practice history are stored with Supabase, our hosting and database provider, on servers in the United States. Supabase stores and processes this data on our behalf.

5. Payments through Apple

Blank Pro is sold through the App Store, and Apple handles the payment. We never see your card or billing details. Apple tells us whether you have an active subscription or free trial, which plan it is and when it expires, so the app can unlock Pro. Apple’s own handling of your data is described in Apple’s privacy policy.

6. Voice stays on your phone

You can type your replies or say them. When you speak, Apple’s speech recognizer turns your voice into text on your iPhone. The audio never leaves your phone. Only the transcribed text is sent, just like a typed reply.

When a character speaks its reply aloud, the app uses your phone’s built-in voices.

7. Notifications are local

Your daily text from Pip is a local notification, scheduled on your phone. We don’t collect push notification tokens. You can change the time in the app, or turn notifications off in iOS Settings.

8. No ads, no tracking, no selling

  • Blank has no ads and no advertising SDKs.
  • We don’t track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
  • We don’t sell your personal information or share it for advertising.
  • We don’t use third-party analytics. Usage events stay with us.

Anthropic, Supabase and Apple are the only companies that receive your information from us. Each handles it to provide its service to us, under terms that require it to protect your information at least as well as this policy does.

9. How long we keep it

Your account, settings, conversations, progress and reports
Until you delete them.
Usage events
Up to 400 days, then deleted. They are deleted right away if you use Delete my data or Delete history.
Support messages
24 months, then deleted.
Server logs
30 days.
Crisis-card records
If the app shows you a card with crisis resources, we record that it was shown. After 90 days we remove anything that identifies you and keep only the count, which California law requires us to report each year.

10. Deleting your data

In the app, open Profile → Privacy:

  • Delete history clears your practice history: past conversations, their feedback, what characters remember about you, your Persona and focus, your progress and streak, saved lines, logged conversations and usage events. Your settings and subscription stay.
  • Delete my data erases your account and everything in it, immediately. It can’t be undone.

Support messages are kept separately for up to 24 months, and crisis-card counts are kept without anything that identifies you, as described above.

Deleting the app from your phone doesn’t delete your data from our server, so use Delete my data first. Deleting your data doesn’t cancel a subscription: cancel it in iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.

If you can’t use the app, for example because you’ve lost your phone, ask us through the support form. Because Blank accounts aren’t tied to a name or email, we may ask for details that help us find the right account, and we’ll confirm with you before deleting anything.

11. Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to:

  • tell you what personal information we have about you, and give you a copy
  • correct information that’s wrong
  • delete your information

You can do most of this yourself in the app. For anything else, use the support form. We’ll answer within 45 days, and you won’t be penalized for asking. If we can’t do what you asked, we’ll explain why, and you can ask us to look at it again.

12. California privacy rights

If you live in California, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (together, the CCPA), gives you the rights in section 11: to know, to delete and to correct your personal information, and not to be discriminated against for using those rights. You can also make a request through an authorized agent; we may ask the agent for proof that you authorized them and ask you to confirm the request.

The CCPA also gives you the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and to limit the use of sensitive personal information. We don’t sell or share personal information, as the CCPA defines those terms, and we don’t use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you, so there is nothing to opt out of or limit.

The categories of personal information Blank collects are:

Identifiers
Your random device ID, IP address in server logs, and an email address if you include one in a support message.
Commercial information
Your Blank Pro status, plan and expiry, from Apple.
Internet or other electronic network activity
Usage events inside the app.
Other information you provide
Onboarding answers, your optional first name, settings, time zone, conversations and feedback, practice stats, logged conversations, saved lines, reports and support messages.

We collect this from you, from your iPhone and from Apple, for the purposes in section 2. We disclose it only to the service providers named in section 8, for those purposes, and keep it as described in section 9. We don’t share personal information with third parties for their own direct marketing.

13. Age: 18 and over

Blank is for adults 18 and over. You confirm your age before your first conversation, and we don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

If we learn that someone under 18 is using Blank, for example because they tell a character their age, practice on that account is paused and the app shows how to delete the account. We review these accounts and delete the information of anyone we confirm is under 18. If you think someone under 18 is using Blank, please tell us through the support form.

14. Security

  • Your account’s secret key stays in your iPhone’s Keychain. Our server stores only a one-way hash of it, never the key itself.
  • Data travels between the app, our server and our providers over encrypted connections (HTTPS).
  • The app never reads our database directly. Only our server code can, and every request for your account’s data has to come with your account’s key.

No system is perfectly secure. If a security incident affects your information, we’ll tell you as the law requires.

15. This website

This website doesn’t use cookies, analytics or trackers. To show its typeface, your browser loads it from Google Fonts, so Google receives your IP address and basic browser details; see Google’s privacy policy. The service that hosts these pages may also keep short technical logs, such as IP addresses.

If you use the support form, we receive your message and, if you give it, your email address, and we handle them as this policy describes.

16. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we’ll post the new version here and update the date at the top. If a change is significant, such as collecting a new kind of data or working with a new company, we’ll tell you in the app before it applies and ask for your permission again where it’s required.

17. Contact

For questions, requests or complaints about privacy, use the support form or open Profile → Help in the app. Blank is made by Anish Polakala, United States.
